Information buyers of cartoon pictures

CSL Cartoon Service is a new concept in the distribution and delivery of editorial cartoon pictures. It operates as a live marketplace where authorised cartoonists (currently numbering over 100) can upload and catalogue news related editorial cartoons from anywhere in the world, at any time of day. As soon as a cartoonist has drawn a cartoon on a breaking news item, they can have it on sale to a worldwide market in minutes. Just as a news agency sells news stories or photography, the NewsCartoon Service acts as a source for the latest editorial and political cartoons and caricatures illustrating the latest news items.

Copyright, censorship and editorial control

Many news editors complain that editorial cartoons provided by syndicates can be "middle of the road", uncontroversial and bland due to the syndicate's need to select only cartoons that will have a broad appeal. With the NewsCartoon Service, you have editorial control and can choose from a wide variety of different viewpoints.

When you buy a cartoon from CSL NewsCartoon Service, you are buying a non-exclusive license to reprint the image once. Copyright in the cartoon remains the property of the cartoonist.

Image quality

When you purchase an image, the file you download will be in RGB (24 bit) JPEG format. It's largest dimension (height if it is a portrait image and or width for landscape images) will be between 1800 and 3000 pixels, so for printing at 300dpi, the images should be more than adequate quality for printing at up to 15cm across (maximum dimension). If you require higher resolution than this, please contact us and we will attempt to obtain a new scan from the artist.

Account applications

Corporate purchasers may apply for an account. If approved, you will be given an account number and password so that they can download images at any time. Your purchases will then be invoiced on 30 day terms. Click here to apply for an account.
