Furthermore, the contest entry does something terrific that Sam Gross\u2019s joke does not by inserting the element of choice.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\nThis month\u2019s best pun assumes the dog is dead: <\/span>\u201cTurns out you can serve two masters.\u201d<\/i><\/b> The most bizarre suggests he\u2019s a mythical creature: <\/span>\u201cDyslexics often end up with Fairy Dogmothers.\u201d <\/i><\/b>The one I don\u2019t love or hate works by replacing the word \u201cemotional\u201d with a fitting substitute: <\/span>\u201cHi, I\u2019m you spiritual support dog.\u201d <\/i><\/b>And the<\/span> worst is, <\/span>\u201cI\u2019m an Airedale.\u201d<\/i><\/b> That\u2019s just my opinion, of course. Joel Mishon actually liked that pun.<\/span><\/p>\nThe rest of this month\u2019s noteworthy entries do not suggest the dog is dead.<\/span><\/p>\nThese two are product placements:<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n\n- \u201cI found the Red Bull.\u201d<\/i><\/b><\/li>\n
- \u201cI had a Red Bull.\u201d<\/i><\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
This entry is yet another reference to the art on the wall: <\/span>\u201cFlying is great, except I\u2019m eye level with your paintings.\u201d<\/i><\/b><\/p>\nThese two suggest that the wings could be the result of hybridization:<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n\n- \u201cI think you should be directing these questions to the breeder.\u201d<\/i><\/b><\/li>\n
- \u201cI\u2019m bred to chase flying squirrels.\u201d<\/i><\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
Here\u2019s some scatological humor:<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n\n- \u201cWhen the wind is right, I can mark the whole country.\u201d<\/i><\/b><\/li>\n
- \u201cYou may want to wear a hat from now on.\u201d<\/i><\/b><\/li>\n
- \u201cMake taller hydrants.\u201d<\/i><\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
This entry highlights the fact that the dog has a different perspective now that he can fly: <\/span>\u201cWait. You\u2019re bald?\u201d<\/i><\/b><\/p>\nFinally, we have a couple jokes about dog-walking:\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n\n- \u201cWill you take me out for a hover?\u201d<\/i><\/b><\/li>\n
- \u201cShould I get my tether?\u201d<\/i><\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
